We just celebrated National Mystery Series Week, so I thought I’d share one of my (many) favorite series with you. I’ve been reading Mary Maxwell’s Sky High Pies Cozy Mysteries and, after 32 books, I’m convinced this author knows what she’s doing!
Kate Reed, a former Chicago private investigator, returns to Crescent Creek, Colorado, to take over the family bakery when her parents decide that it’s time to retire to Florida. Kate’s grandmother started the bakery, and it has become a well-loved spot in the town.
But Kate’s days aren’t only filled with baking pies and making breakfast and lunch for her customers. As a consultant to the Crescent Creek Police Department, she solves cases involving death threats, missing persons, deception, betrayal, secrets, and, of course, murder. And, at the same time, she’s developing a sweet relationship with hunky photographer, Zack Hutton.
